Supalai Launches 'Living Lab' to Reduce Construction Waste

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the real estate developer Supalai Public Company Limited has introduced a new initiative titled 'The Living Lab' to improve construction efficiency and environmental sustainability. By utilizing active construction sites as testing grounds, the company aims to collect data, measure performance, and refine its operational processes.

The pilot project, launched at the Supalai Park Ekkamai-P Phatthanakan site, focused on waste management as a primary metric. The company set an initial target to limit construction waste sent for disposal to 3,300 tons. Through the implementation of these new processes, they successfully reduced the actual waste to approximately 2,000 tons, marking a 39% reduction compared to their original goal.

For residents and those interested in the Thai property market, this initiative highlights a growing trend toward sustainable development in the construction sector. As the industry faces increasing pressure to manage resources responsibly, Supalai plans to expand these practices to all its future low-rise and high-rise projects. While the initial results are positive, it remains to be confirmed how these processes will be scaled across diverse project types and whether other major developers in Thailand will adopt similar standards to mitigate environmental impacts. The company intends to continue using these sites as learning hubs to drive ongoing improvements in construction methodology.
