Thailand to Offer Free Weekend Access on M6 Motorway Starting August 21
The Department of Highways has announced that the M6 motorway section between Bang Pa-in and Pak Chong will be toll-free on weekends through the end of the year.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Department of Highways (DOH) has confirmed that the M6 motorway, specifically the segment connecting Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong, will be open to the public free of charge starting August 21, 2026.
Director-General Piyapong Jiwatkulpaisarn stated that this trial service is scheduled to operate every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This initiative is set to continue through the New Year period, providing a significant alternative route for motorists traveling between the central region and the northeastern gateway.
For travelers and residents, this development is expected to ease traffic congestion during peak weekend travel times, particularly for those heading toward Nakhon Ratchasima. By removing toll fees on this specific stretch, the DOH aims to facilitate smoother transit and improve overall road efficiency during high-traffic periods.
While the schedule for weekend operations is confirmed, motorists should remain aware that this is a trial service.
