Software Expert Addresses Data Leak Investigation with Cyber Police
A software expert has met with Thai Cyber Police to clarify that a recent massive data leak was caused by compromised staff credentials rather than a system hack.
On August 6, 2026, Thanarat Kuawattana-pan, CEO of Dome Cloud, met with officials from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) to provide technical insights regarding a significant data breach. The incident involved the exposure of sensitive personal information, including national ID card photos, vehicle registration details, and data belonging to high-ranking government officials, including the Prime Minister and various ministers, as well as a large number of private citizens.
According to Thai Post, Thanarat clarified that the vulnerability stemmed from the leakage of staff passwords rather than a direct external hack of the system infrastructure. The meeting was attended by high-ranking police officials, including Police Major General Siriwat Deepor, Commander of CCIB Division 1.
