Memorial Held at Site Where Russian Siblings Were Found in Chonburi
A memorial ceremony took place at the site in Huai Yai where the bodies of two Russian siblings, victims of a five-person murder case, were discovered.
On August 6, 2026, a memorial service was held in Huai Yai, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi, at the location where the bodies of two Russian siblings were recovered. The siblings were among five victims in a high-profile murder case involving a suspect identified as 'Pong.' During the emotional ceremony, the mother of the victims expressed her deep gratitude toward the Thai people for their support and kindness throughout this tragedy.
Following the memorial, authorities have intensified their investigation. Assistant Professor Chawalit Khaokhiao from Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Archaeology has coordinated with Summit Engineering and Service Co., Ltd. to deploy advanced Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology. The Stream DP radar system, operated by technical experts, is being utilized to scan the area for any additional evidence or suspicious objects related to the crime. The operation is being overseen by high-ranking officials, including Police Lieutenant General Chatchai Surachetphong, Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2, and Police Major General Pongphan Wongmanithet, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police.
For residents and travelers in the area, this remains an active police investigation site. While the memorial marks a moment of closure for the families, the use of specialized scanning equipment indicates that the search for further evidence is ongoing. Authorities have not yet released findings from the latest GPR scans.
