BDMS Announces 'WellEra' Wellness City Project for 2029
Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) is developing a major wellness city project, WellEra, aiming for a 2029 launch to capitalize on Thailand's growing health tourism sector.
At the 'MATICHON EXCLUSIVE MEETING: NEW TOURISM NEW ECONOMY' seminar, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) highlighted the rapid expansion of the wellness economy in Thailand. Thitiporn Nookong, Assistant President for Real Estate Development and Managing Director of the WellEra project, noted that global travel trends are shifting from traditional leisure toward health-focused experiences and improved quality of life.
According to data shared by BDMS, Thailand’s wellness economy grew by 10.1% over the past year, with wellness tourism specifically surging by 36.4%. To leverage this momentum, BDMS is moving forward with 'WellEra,' a mega-project designed as a prototype wellness city, with an expected completion date in 2029.
For travelers and residents, this development signals a potential increase in high-end health-oriented infrastructure and services within the country. As the wellness sector continues to establish itself as a significant economic driver, the project aims to position Thailand as a global leader in health tourism. While the project is currently in development, specific details regarding the exact location, full scope of facilities, and pricing models for the WellEra city remain to be confirmed as the project progresses toward its 2029 target.
