Oleopolos means “place in the middle.”
Are you tired of the hustle and bustle of the city? And are you looking for a place to spend a weekend away from the city drama, a peaceful place to play and make a bond with your children and family or friends? Or do you have a taste for barbecued meat? Then you don’t have to worry anymore, Oleopolos country club is that place.
It is located around 45km southwest of downtown Nairobi near the town of Kisamis in Kajiando county. It is characterized with play grounds, meeting halls, butchery, cottages, and swimming pools among others.
If you have your own wheels, take the road southwest out of Nairobi, past kiserian on the road to Lake Magadi, to corner Baridi, where this simple little place serves up roasted meat and roast chicken. And if you like, you wash it down with cold tuskers or sodas as you gaze over the beautiful rift valley and you’ll feel close to heaven.
If you don’t have your own transport, take matatu 126 as far as Kiserian and then hire a taxi.
I visited Oleopolos not because I was tired of the hustle and bustle of Nairobi but because I wanted to explore. I wanted to have a taste of a different place and away from where I already know. I had heard of the place from my friend who was saying at Oleopolos country club you can have a whole goat roasted for you. I was in a group of my friends and indeed I saw that happen.
Their prices are affordable and on top of that, they know how to treat with customers. Their services are so far the best I have seen outside Nairobi.
Oleopolos country club is built on a rocky ground and though in dry seasons it might get too hot and dusty, it’s very idyllic. While there you enjoy the taste of the famous Maasai culture. People from the Maasai community entertains the customers with the Maasai dance whereby they expect you to say ashe oleng’(thank you so much) with a small tip. Oleopolos country club has been reviewed by eatout, lonely planet, financial times, and trip advisor among others.
